Arioso (aka “Ari”) arrived here in his new home just a week ago. He was a shelter cat who found his way to PetSmart in Pinole CA. Since there was a local shortage of possibilities, I ventured to a kitten event about 26 miles away, and found myself second in line to choose among 4 kitties.
This little fellow was hiding in the showcase, while a more rambunctious feline was leaping around and slapping the other kittens. Ari appeared shier than the others, but that temperament seemed a good fit for my lifestyle of piano practicing and long distance Online teaching.
Here he’s surfacing for a short time at PetSmart, winning my instant attention.

Once Ari was brought home, he took to the piano bench after many training routines and lots of patience. (In truth, he’s been a handful during his kitten hood, rampaging the place, with intermittent time-outs)

At long last, here’s Ari making his way to my lap while I practiced, J.S. Bach Little Prelude in E minor, BWV 941. He’s surely on his way to becoming a partner in our musical journey.
Purrrrrr……

Our Max loves when the violin kids come to practice their concertos during the winter. Pets with excellent musical taste!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for making me continually smile today! (particularly after a rough night of sleep during this pandemic). You provided a wonderful practicing video (E. Petri’s transcription of “Sheep May Safely Graze”), and well as your video of you and little Arioso practicing. Music, Kitties, and musical pet names, now how wonderful is that ?!
My sister asked me what she had been humming for days. “Sheep…”. We listened to a recording of it and I explained a little about the work. We laughed that my black & white Border Collie named, Keyboard, would probably not allow any sheep to peacefully graze. Ever.
She asked if Petri’s transcription was difficult to play. This was when I discovered your video confirming my own suspicions. You’re a wonderful teacher and artist!
I’ve had cats before Keyboard, and understand kitty-speak. Arioso is just too cute! Thank you so much for adopting! Your video provided much oxytocin. Have you played Zez Confrey’s, “Kitten on the Keys” to him?
Lastly, if convenient, would it be possible to email a copy of the rest of the pages with your fingerings of Petri’s transcription?
Thanks so much.
Respectfully,
Karen
